We have lots of guys to still bring in. Keeping track of Navy's commits is never really complete until I-day (if then) but usually we have a pretty good list together at GoMids.com come LOI Day in February.

I would say that the initial verbals look pretty good. As of right now, I think you could call it above average, but the class is nowehere near complete so I don't want to rush to judgement. I really like the pickups at slot though. These are athletic guys who would have had offers from big-name programs had they been a few inches taller.

Most of the names I've heard thrown out so far are NAPsters. I think Zapata, Beaty and Brown are all going NAPS just from what people have said. Like I said though, it's still early for SA recruiting. Things will really start picking up once guys holding out for other offers don't end up getting them, and by LOI day we should have a pretty good list of guys who have appointments and have given verbals.

AFA is just a solid program and next year could be the year that our reign over them ends.
What a great year they had and too bad they did not win their Bowl game as they would have made Top 25.
It does not mean some bumps will not happen next year but AF will still be respectable and always a serious threat to us in the CIC.
I wish them well vs everyone but us.

Adam: Saw your rundown of this year's list of commits. How would you judge this year's class? Above avg? Well above avg? Seems that we did pretty well. Agreed? Any still out there?
Finally, any idea whether any of those guys will come in directly, as opposed to going to NAPS?

It'll be interesting to see how this year's recruiting matchup works. Air Force's obvious upcoming problems aside, Calhoun has momentum from the season and is, from initial indications anyway, a solid recruiter. I think the head-to-head recruiting in California and Georgia is going to be important. Calhoun reached in and took a bunch of kids from GA last year (granted, Navy got almost all of their first choice in the state) and with Coach Bohannon gone you have to wonder if there is an opening for Air Force there. Obviously the Falcons have been going after kids from CA for some time, and from what I've seen it seems like Calhoun is continuing that tradition.

I'm excited about the new staff's (Navy's, that is) connections though. I think we'll do better in the interior West, and hopefully continue success in the south and in Texas. I just hope Coach Johns can real in some kids from the West Coast.
